HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR 2024!

GXFC! Greetings and hope everyone has had a wonderful Lunar New Year 2024!

On 18-February-2024, MSBCA held an important and one of the biggest events of the year, our Lunar New Year Banquet. It was a sold-out event a month ahead with 250 strong supporters by members and friends. Another indication of your fervent support is the additional wine pre-order which was also sold out. Thank you so much and you make MSBCA Proud!

The event started with the drum beat and the roar of the eight lions performed by the World Pak Mei Hup Ging Do Martial Arts. We appreciate all the delightful and talented performers especially given the time constraints led by Irene Phong and Rosalind Lee and friends. A special shout out to the Canadian Indonesian Social Club who so willingly showcase their talents and culture with their “Time In-Between” dance performance.

I would like to thank all the generous sponsors for their tremendous help in this event.

Thank you also goes to the volunteers and members of our board to make this a successful event. And for people who are reading this and were there that evening, thank you for dressing up boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen. You all made the evening very colorful. We hope the quality door prizes given out that evening were satisfactory to the winners.

To me, this is a family dinner much like a Reunion dinner where family members and friends gather around to share a meal. This signifies an unwavering bond and unity around the table. Doing our MSBCA traditional Prosperity Toss or Yee Sang with the people around each table was so pleasant to watch and made the evening special and memorable.

Soon it will be springtime and we are excited that we have some additional events/activities for you to participate in besides the regular ones. Sunday Lunch on 17-March-2024, check out the poster for details. Also, there are exciting mahjong and ever-popular pickleball for you to join and enjoy.

Enjoy the Year of the Dragon! Heng-Ah! Ong-Ah! Huat-Ah!

Until next time, take care.

Peter Chai
