Dear members and friends of MSBCA,
It will be a new year for our association as we enter the leadership of the Board of Directors 2019-2020! On behalf of the membership, I would like to thank all those who attended our Annual General Meeting. Your presence, questions, suggestions and other forms of participation are a valued part of our democratic process. And as always, it is a wonderful time to catch up with many! I would like to congratulate everyone on the Board, both outgoing and incoming, for their volunteer spirit, passion and energy to contribute to our community.
The two member positions of auditors are still vacant for now. The auditors perform the annual review of MSBCA’s financial statements as well as provide feedback to the Board regarding operational and financial improvements for the Association. CPA or CPA student is preferred. If anyone is interested, please contact Blair.
For upcoming events, MSBCA will be hosting our Christmas celebration on Saturday, December 7 at the clubhouse. I am told that there will be a new program with some changes unlike previous Christmas parties, so be sure to register and attend!
Members and friends, the upcoming Chinese New Year is relatively early in the 2020 calendar: Saturday, January 25. MSBCA will be breaking with the past routine of hosting our CNY Celebration at Regency Seafood Palace Restaurant. Like many Chinatown-based associations, MSBCA has long enjoyed the 9-course banquet at Regency; but there is momentum in the membership to try something new. A new style of dinner celebration, a new menu, a new ambience and atmosphere. Something more “kampung style”. Our CNY Celebration 2020 will be held on Saturday, February 8 with more details forthcoming!
For table tennis enthusiasts and those who enjoy a good time moving around, please sign up for our table tennis event on November 17 on our MSBCA website. For those who are interested in our evening badminton sessions at Sunridge Badminton Center, please contact Jesse.
Additionally, our new VP Singapore Giva is starting new educational sessions with guest speakers who will give talks about different topics. We hope these will benefit the membership by providing valuable learning. If anyone has any topic in mind they would like to learn or a speaker they would like to meet, please contact Giva.
Lastly, I would like to thank members who have renewed their membership for 2020 early, and especially to those who did so on the website with our online payment system. While it has been a learning curve for many members, the roll-out of our new website and online payment system in the beginning of 2019 has made promoting events, checking headcounts, and ticket reconciliation much easier processes for organizers and volunteers.
